The film was to be for a new initiative that they were partnering with local breweries and the Maine Brewer’s Alliance for, called the Brewshed Alliance. This was a loose organization to help folks realize the importance of preserving Maine’s pristine watersheds through a business perspective. One that was directly impacted by the quality of Maine’s water.
GOAL
This short documentary was to clearly illustrate the importance of water quality from source to product, while underlining the stake that breweries, and other businesses had in preserving it. Ultimately it was to be short, and digestible, while hopefully still being worthy of film festivals.
CHALLENGES
There are many watersheds in Maine, and many breweries dependent on each
one. We had to pick one, as well as identify the stakeholders within it. We also had to illustrate clearly the path that water takes from cloud to bottle. And of course, the weather.
SOLUTIONS
We chose a watershed that is one of the most pristine in the United states, and worked with the breweries that drew from this source. While it wasn’t easy getting them all in a room as they were extremely busy, they were ultimately happy to help. This production took us to far away places deep in land preserves where we spent hours knee deep in streams, lost in forests and tops of mountains. In short: our wheelhouse. Staying within budget constraints we also traced the path of water from the moment it dropped from the sky to ending up in a glass of beer. This film won Best Maine Film at the Maine Outdoor Film Festival.

We worked closely with the agency to make sure the piece was as close to their original vision as possible and revised according to feedback from the client themselves.
GOAL
This video was to be a very broad explanation of a new service provided by IDEXX to be used on their website, in order to interest potential clients with the capabilities and benefits it offered.
CHALLENGES
The main challenge was that because of COVID restrictions, we could not access the facilities in order to capture any footage. Indeed the service itself wasn’t really a visually appealing one as most of it comprised of data collection and collating.
SOLUTIONS
We leaned heavily on stock footage and did a lot of research into a variety of high quality libraries to find the images we ultimately ended up using in post production. We crafted the visual story more around the process and results of needing and using the services we were promoting within the piece. The result is a slick, quick description of the service.

Wildlands Trust is a land trust in south eastern Massachusetts that preserves almost 350 parcels of land across 51 towns. Needless to say this is a mission that is close to our hearts for a number of reasons. Wildlands preserves both rural and urban spaces in a desire not only to preserve but to allow access for all, regardless of circumstance. This production was a year in the making, and approximately 6 months in production. And it was a joy the entire time! And the results were fantastic.
GOAL
Wildlands wished to originally create a historical piece that would add elements of current standing. Through the pre-production process the goal shifted slightly to talk about the importance of land conservation, with a campaign call to action.
CHALLENGES
With 350 parcels of land, we had to decide which parcels were best suited to illustrate the beauty, and the benefits of land conservation in south eastern Massachusetts. This meant multiple locations, multiple days, and the need to capture the flora and fauna – the wildlife- that abounds on the parcels. All weather dependent!
SOLUTIONS
During pre-production a list of parcels were identified across the region, each for certain aspects- water, land, wildlife etc. We then set a schedule for shooting based on the best times for particular aspects of the selected locations, e.g. migrations, blooms, tides, etc. We scheduled the travel to the locations around these moments. For capturing wildlife, we placed a number of remote cameras around a handful of locations, as the time and budget didn’t allow for our ops to be on location enough.

Keller Media Works are pros at event coverage. In this case the Casco Bay Race Series approached us because of our unique understanding of filming in the outdoors, specifically, around, on and in the ocean. They wanted something that would capture the fun, camaraderie and athleticism of their season long event.
GOAL
To create an end of season wrap up of a several month long event to promote at their award ceremony, on social media and several event websites, in order to attract more participants for future years.
CHALLENGES
There were multiple events over several months, often happening various locations around Casco Bay. Parts of the races were far away from land, and required drone, on, and in the water filming.
SOLUTIONS
Keller Media Works leaned on our vast experience of filming in and around the ocean. We have the equipment, the know how, and the connections to accomplish this multi day, multi location shoot. We employed our drones, our on water platforms and our in the water expertise to produce a really fun piece that reflected the excitement of the yearly event series. Don’t worry, we wore our shark shield!

Which was incredible when you consider that one of the beautiful parts of lacrosse is the fluidity and speed of the athletes and the game. Not to mention they were a youth camp for elite lacrosse youth from across the country. They were in dire need of some sort of way to tell their unique and powerful story, combining both the educational nurturing environment and location, and the power and intensity of the game.
GOAL
Cardigan needed to tell their story. They weren’t interested necessarily in the history of the camp so much as the experience and the current state of development and learning for potential campers. This video would be their first and needed to be a powerful addition to their website and social platforms.
CHALLENGES
The game of lacrosse is fast, as well as dangerous. The speed at which it moves presented a number of difficulties concerning camera work. Additionally the time at camp was limited for the attendees and coaches, so any and all image capture was going to have to happen naturally, with no setups.
SOLUTIONS
Protective gear, to put it bluntly. We took a few lacrosse balls to the head and body in the attempt to get deeper into the game and get some of the more enticing shots. We told them to pull no punches and show us the natural flow of the game. We worked around weather as well as whatever skills and drills they were working on in order to capture the authentic experience of being at this camp in this beautiful location learning this incredible sport.

This amazing John Calvin Stevens designed theater had been through a lot and depended on its benefactors and volunteers for so much and wanted to show appreciation for them. This was going to be a big production. A full crew complement of 20 people, cast and crew during COVID. Keller Media Works shines in these moments. This is a segment from the film.
GOAL
City Theater wanted to create an interesting documentary showing the trials and tribulations along the path to its current state of operation. One that could ostensibly be shown on television, as well as live on their website and YouTube channel.
CHALLENGES
City Theater did not just want to talking heads on screen spouting dry facts at the viewer. We had to come up with a novel way to approach the subject. We needed to fully preproduce the piece as we would be using city streets as well as the building. We needed to dress sets, score the music, story board, hire actors and additional crew members, all during COVID restrictions. This was a full movie production.
SOLUTIONS
Keller Media Works brought on a writer and designed the concept for the film, that of narrators actually living in the various periods of history of the theater in order to tell the story. Research and pre pro for period costumes and theater facts were handled as well as the hiring of various cast and crew. We contacted the powers that be to close down the streets when we needed them and dressed the theater in period accouterments. For safety of everyone involved we created strict protocols and not a single crew member was sick during production. Logistically as well as actually concepting, producing and delivering this film, Keller Media Works really displayed our capabilities. And it was beyond fun creating this- the whole process!

Immersion is a documentary short which delves into the subject of kids with intellectual and developmental disorders who for a few days a summer get to surf. This was an incredibly rewarding project for us, and is currently available on streaming platforms like Amazon world wide. This is a small segment from the 23 minute documentary.
GOAL
We wanted to create a short film focused on several families and their I/DD kids, who benefited from surfing. We wanted to show the community it benefitted as well as the kids, and focus on the science behind how it was more than just a fun day at the beach for them.
CHALLENGES
This of course was a very sensitive subject so we felt we needed to approach this community fully aware of its challenges. We wanted to engage with families who were comfortable talking about them because in order to get to the true benefits of these days, we felt we had to ask difficult questions, and illustrate the daily challenges they all faced.
SOLUTIONS
We teamed up with the organization Special Surfers in pre production and they helped us navigate this world that doesn’t get much attention. We found several families who invited us into their home and gave us their intention and their honesty, because they felt they could trust our producers to create a beautiful, moving, truthful, hopeful film. Our Production professionalism really shined on this one.

Well Honestly, we didn’t really feel connected to the world of running before we started making it, but by the end we were full fledged runner enthusiasts, because the subject of this film, Just One Step wasn’t merely about exercise. Turns out the effects of running, can dictate a lot of who we are in this world. This piece here is just the opening few minutes.
GOAL
We wanted to create a full length documentary film about the world, the idea of running and how it can affect us in very primal ways. We wanted to make it both visually stunning and intellectually appealing so that even non-runners would be intrigued by it.
CHALLENGES
We knew very little about this world when we started. We needed to identify the people and the processes we wanted to highlight. This meant focusing sometimes on impossibly long races, which happened in far flung places of the country. And we didn’t run.
SOLUTIONS
We created an intense and deep pre production/research schedule where our team identified interview subjects, athletes, races and locations in which to film. We ended up shooting in every possible weather condition, sometimes for 24 hours non stop. Our team’s outdoor professionality shone again as we had the equipment and the expertise to navigate these situations. We had to learn to run with heavy camera equipment while keeping it steady! The result is a beautiful film, now available on streaming services like Amazon and Apple TV.

They were bursting onto the scene and wanted to spread the word about their fresh food, fresh beer and fresh atmosphere. What better way to do that than with a music video style piece? We jumped at the chance, because filming places oriented around fun, can only be fun!
GOAL
Sea Dog Cantina wanted a fun, happy, illustrative and short piece to introduce their restaurants to the public. It had to illustrate beer, food and atmosphere in a way that showed it was all about the experience.
CHALLENGES
We needed to capture a full restaurant at multiple locations scattered around Florida. Fresh food and drinks were a priority so we needed to work closely with the culinary and bar staff in order to produce tantalizing imagery.
SOLUTIONS
The Keller Media Works team are no strangers to travel for production and we coordinated sever production dates with the locations in Florida. In order to capture full restaurants we worked closely with the management and picked the best times, where there would be people but we also would not get in the way of the staff, and the overall experience for the customers. We scheduled food styling time and used primarily natural light for both food and drinks, as it was part of the experience at the locations, and how the customers would view them.

Bee Good Seltzer approached us to help them spread the word about their new, uniquely flavored, alcoholic seltzers. They had some ideas but weren’t really sure how best to realize them. We worked closely with their team to craft a short piece to tell an aspect of their story.
GOAL
Bee Good wanted a short quick story to illustrate the lifestyle they associated with their product. Something uniquely Maine, something fun, fascinating and also something that gave back, Bee-ing Good for the world as well as yourself. The Piece was to be used on their site and social platforms as well.
CHALLENGES
Filming in the ocean in Maine in April is quite possibly the most difficult time due to water temp and equipment. Additionally we had to work around weather and conditions. Bee Good weren’t exactly sure how they wanted to portray their vison, aside from the initial concept.
SOLUTIONS
We helped Bee Good through the process of identifying what aspects of lifestyle and responsibilities they wanted to focus on, keeping the exposure narrow in terms of illustrating unique Maine fun. Once that was confirmed in pre-production, our expertise in outdoor/water filming came into play and we relied on our professional equipment and capabilities to get us in the water on a wonderfully typical set of Maine days. The result was a fun and quick vignette of lifestyle for Bee Good.

Of course short video profiles are perfectly suited for this and we were beyond appreciative to be able to help.
GOAL
The team at OSC wanted a series of short videos for their website that illustrated their capabilities, in this particular video, the focus was to be customer service. What better way to illustrate their responsiveness and effectiveness than with a testimonial?
CHALLENGES
While many aspects of this piece were fairly straightforward we had limitations in terms of space and time. Working with a retail company during high season limits windows of opportunity. We were constrained as well by physical spaces, where room for filming was limited.
SOLUTIONS
As always, we at Keller Media Works are incredibly flexible, and were able to work with both OSC and the testimonial subject to work around their busy schedule, and still get the best possible responses from them. Their Spring Point marina is the largest full service marina in the state. And when they say full service they mean it, from every type of boat sales and repair, right down to the beer you will be drinking when you are out on the water. They approached Keller Media Works to help create a social media/web video presence that reflected the boating lifestyle and all the fun that encapsulated. Part of that was creating a series of videos highlighting each dealership location.
GOAL
This particular video was to be one of the dealership location videos, focusing on their South Portland location, both the sales location and the marina, and all the processes that both those elements comprised. The piece was to be informative and engaging.
CHALLENGES
There were plenty, but all of them were places we specialize in. The outdoor shots were weather dependent of course, but there would be lots of on the water, above the water and in the water shooting. Boat work and service presented a particular challenge as it would not be set up shots and those processes tend to be quick, and no-nonsense.
SOLUTIONS
For these shoots we relied on our experience as outdoor and in-the-water camera operators. We employed state of the art tools to create steady images, and of course we used a fair amount of drone work. We were ready to move at a moment’s notice, both locally and travelling away, due to weather and to capture any boat work that might have been happening. Eventually we also employed some basic graphic work to illustrate some of the bigger concepts. The result was the product of a really enjoyable shoot.

As they provide more than just chiropractic services they wanted to illustrate their approach to whole body health. This included making sure that they came across as more than back specialists, and that they had the most modern capabilities all under one roof.
GOAL
Scarborough Family Chiropractic wanted to create a short profile video, featuring the vision of its founders. It was also to illustrate the depth of its services in a way that would entice new clients. This video would be used primarily on their website but also in social media.
CHALLENGES
Filming in a health care environment is tricky due to privacy issues. We needed model talent and practitioners who were willing to illustrate their processes on camera. The lighting at this new facility was also tricky, as it was bright in places and dark in others.
SOLUTIONS
Working as a team with the client we identified a number of models who were willing to be worked on in front of the camera as well as parts of processes that balance appropriateness and illustrated the knowledge and professionality of the practitioners. Working with our KMW team we managed to create a piece that was at once bright and cheery but also warm and inviting.

Nova Steel wanted to create a number of videos for their new website that was to launch soon. The company had a large family of steel fabrication facilities and wanted to illustrate the breadth and depth of their capabilities while keeping it snappy and informative. Not only did we create one video showing the capabilities family wide, but also a short video for each individual group within it.
GOAL
To create a short music video style video that was engaging and informative. A piece that showed not just the size of the entire company but it’s capabilities and cutting edge technological processes.
CHALLENGES
Shooting in a manufacturing environment can be tricky, but Keller Media Works is equipped for the challenges. In this particular case we had to deal with extreme heat and light as well as a number of processes that could damage ourselves and our equipment. Additionally the company is large and spread across three countries of the North American continent.
SOLUTIONS
Keller Media Works is no strange to working in oddly lit, risky manufacturing environments. We navigated the various situations with equipment that was appropriate for the different scenarios. We traveled to a few of the locations to film ourselves, but as this was during COVID, we worked closely with the agency and other resources to capture the imagery that was needed from some of the locations we were not able to get to ourselves. Working in tandem with them every existing plant location ended up in the final pieces.

Why this is of note is because the owners took an older vessel that was ready to be mothballed and refurbished it from the hull up. In the process they created the first luxury sailing windjammer that provides a bespoke sailing experience for the clientele. This production was absolutely amazing. Not only is it in our wheelhouse, as we work with water and boats frequently, but we got to spend a bunch of days out on this amazing boat during production. This was one of those productions where we are reminded how much we love our work.
GOAL
Ladona needed a short music video style piece for its website and social media to introduce the vessel to the world. The video needed to show off not just the facilities of the boat but the passenger experience as well.
CHALLENGES
As we were filming during paying client trips, we were subject to pickup and drop off in far flung parts of the Maine coast, where transportation and communication were not always taken for granted. Drone work was essential for this shoot, and given the constraints of the speed and size of the vessel, it complicated GPS take off and landing sequences. And of course, weather.
SOLUTIONS
Our team was flexible as always, knowing that we were subject to weather and obscure embarkation/disembarkation points. In pre-production we identified potential locations, so if the wind (and weather) went one way or the other we would be prepared. Our experience with ocean based drone work served us well and we worked with the client to assure that the best possible shots were achieved without any damage or loss.

As they had recently re-built their website and YouTube presence, they were in need of content that accurately described their product and this one in particular, as the winter season was upon them. Working with Shipyard is always an amazingly enjoyable time as the whole premise of the industry is having a good time! It’s happy work!
GOAL
Shipyard needed a brand profile for Prelude for both their website and social presence. They wanted a warm holiday feel for this product and at the same time making it look tempting and mouthwatering. A winter warmer, that is best served cold.
CHALLENGES
An interesting challenge to create something that will be appealing served cold in the coldest time of the year. It needed to be inviting and cozy. As this particular product is only available for a very limited time, there was a need to produce the piece as quickly as possible.
SOLUTIONS
We used extreme close ups with macro lenses, spot lighting and worked some studio product styling complemented by in context imagery. The result was an image that allowed for the product to look mouthwatering and cold, with deep rich coloring in a warm cozy holiday setting.

They had a vital message they needed to get out to their donor bas in order to achieve certain goals. A video communiqué was the way to do it.
GOAL
To create a short awareness piece to accompany their call to action for a fundraising goal they had created. They wanted to take a slightly different tack in order to better reach folks that they may have otherwise missed.
CHALLENGES
Sebago Clean Waters uses most of their funds for development so the budget for this was thin. There were only a few opportunities to film anything so the piece had to happen in a non traditional way.
SOLUTIONS
As the messaging was the same, we set up a partnership between Maine Brewshed Alliance and Sebago Clean waters and repurposed some of the footage from the film we did with them “For Beer’s Sake”. This was a positive for both parties as it gave the Brewshed Alliance more exposure, and it gave Sebago Clean Waters the unique angle on fundraising they were looking for. We shot a few new pieces in order to round it out. A cooperative success!

Videography itself won’t be able to capture it so how does one show how it all works? With an explainer video, that’s how! We teamed with RIVA, a Canadian company to help them illustrate the back end functionality of their software. This project was incredibly fun and allowed us to stretch our animation legs, as it were, as there wasn’t a second of videography involved. And we learned a thing or two about CRM!
GOAL
Riva needed an explainer video that gave a very broad overview of their professional CRM product, including its capabilities and applications, while not getting too detailed and simultaneously indicating its power, ending with a call to action.
CHALLENGES
The processes of the CRM product can’t be captured on camera, only the user interface could. As this was talking about internal processes, we needed a better away. Keller Media Works does not have an illustrator in house.
SOLUTIONS
We spoke at length with RIVA about the intricate processes involved in the product and identified the ones necessary to best broadly illustrate how it worked. Teaming with an illustrator we story boarded the process, identifying illustrations that would best represent parts, or moments of the process. We then took these illustrations and animated them through the process, making it more understandable to potential customers.

This event raises the funds they need proceed with their mission which is to send unused medical supplies from the US to locations around the globe in dire need of them. Working with Partners was both eye opening and rewarding.
GOAL
Partners wished to create a short piece, approximately 5-7 minutes long illustrating the continuing mission of the organization, while also incorporating testimonials, history, and a call to action.
CHALLENGES
As Partners sources their donations from multiple locations around New England, a handful of the most prolific, and visually acceptable, locations had to be identified and needed to be contacted to work around privacy restrictions. Outbound shipments do not occur on a set schedule so approximate dates had to be identified in pre-production, with the understanding that they might change. International travel was also very difficult, and sometimes forbidden due to COVID restrictions, so our team had to coordinate with teams in India, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh and Puerto Rico to capture testimonials and on scene footage.
SOLUTIONS
As always, our team was incredibly flexible and managed to work with the powers that be at the medical institutions that donated goods to secure permissions at their various New England Locations. That flexibility also extended to shoot dates for shipments. We were on call for a 24 hour deployment for any shipment being prepared and sent. Sometimes working with contact in other countries where English isn’t necessarily prevalent can be a challenge. Our team worked with the representatives on the ground in each location and managed to get the best possible output from them. While the more ideal situation would have been to have our team on the ground, our remote direction ended with more than satisfactory results.

They were looking for a profile piece that talked bout their important history as an aviation supply company (they worked with Amelia Earhart!) all the way through their current success working with the US military, the commercial aviation market and the arine market.
GOAL
To create a short profile piece that encapsulated all of Switlik’s history and its current successes for its website and social media.
CHALLENGES
This piece was to rely heavily on historical imagery that needed to be sourced. Additionally many of the processes they employed at their facility were MILSPEC and thus could not be captured by our cameras. Keeping this piece to approximately 3 minutes would be difficult as there were so many interesting pieces of history and manufacturing minutiae.
SOLUTIONS
We put our research hats on and guided by Switlik themselves were able to access a number of old photos and film clips that worked for this presentation. When we were filming in the manufacturing facility we used state of the art equipment to capture every step of the process while working around the proprietary elements of the MILSPEC process. In post production we went through and found the most visually appealing and illustrative clips to create the final piece.
